This drill is a modification of the Reaching Sausage. With this one, the coach boat becomes the second mark, and can lengthen and shorten the reach at will to keep sailors on their toes.
Teaching points:
- Reaching speed
- Fine tune coaching when sailors gybe/tack
- Head outside the boat
- Boat control
- Sail trim
Modifications:
- One whistle to change direction. This allows you to see your sailors tack around your coach boat as well as gybe, and give them specific feedback
- Flower Drill
- Add slight upwind or downwind so sailors can practice noticing which point of sail they are in, and adjust their sail trim accordingly
