This is a great drill for a first lesson or the first time trying out a new boat. Get sailors to get themselves around the front of the mast without falling in the water or capsizing. This helps them understand the balance limits of the boat and gain confidence in their own stability.

- Once sailors are confident you can do a race and time how long it takes them to get around the mast
- Learn capsizing first
- Start out with just getting them as far forward in the boat as they feel comfortable and work up from there
